Florida storm and hurricane repair: what it should cost

After a hurricane or severe storm, demand for roofers and window installers spikes and quotes vary widely. Use these free tools to get a planning range, check a quote, and confirm a contractor before you sign.

How do I know if a storm repair quote in Florida is fair?

Compare it with a modeled planning range for the same job and size, get at least two written quotes, confirm the contractor's Florida license, and never pay the full amount up front. Our ranges are planning estimates, not quotes, and storm damage can add costs a model cannot see.

Start with a planning range

Our Florida pages use national modeled unit costs plus one documented statewide labor adjustment. They do not include storm surcharges or emergency pricing, so a real quote after a storm can be higher.

Before you sign a storm repair contract

  • Photograph all damage before any work starts, and contact your insurer first.
  • Get written, itemized quotes from more than one company.
  • Check the contractor's license with the Florida DBPR license search.
  • Be cautious with door-to-door offers, large cash deposits, and pressure to sign the same day.
  • Florida law prohibits unconscionable prices for essential goods and services during a declared state of emergency (Section 501.160, Florida Statutes). Report concerns to the Florida Attorney General.
  • For disaster aid, see DisasterAssistance.gov and FloridaDisaster.org.
